Your Weekly Go To for All Things Web3

Welcome back to this week’s edition of The Vested! We’re so glad to see you here whether you're a new reader or have been with us since the start. Before diving into this week’s Web3 recap, ensure you’re following us on Twitter and joining our discord (check out The Vested channel) to keep the conversation going! The Vested is not only supposed to provide you with a weekly toolkit, but we’re also here as a supportive community of women doing our thing in Web3. That said, provide us with your feedback, flag a new project you want us to highlight, or simply say hi. We’re all in this together and WAGMI!

Here is your weekly 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Hot Tip: Set aside 10 min a day to jump in!

5 Accounts to Follow: fill up your feed

4 Listens: your brain will thank you

3 Terms: bc we know you’ve got this

*Hot Tip: we’re not tech people and we had to read these terms a few times to really understand them. If you’ve been reading our newsletter, the concepts should be easier to grasp, but if it feels confusing, you’re not alone!

Protocol- A basic set of rules that allow data to be shared between computers. For cryptocurrencies, they establish the structure of the blockchain — the distributed database that allows digital money to be securely exchanged on the internet.

Open Source- For the blockchain, this means that it is a very public and transparent way to keep records. This eliminates any kind of operator or revisions. Open source software is a code that is designed to be publicly accessible.

Permissionless blockchains - Open networks available to everyone to participate in the decision making that blockchains use to validate transactions and data (remember, blockchains store data). They are fully decentralized across unknown parties. High degree of transparency, resistance to censorship, autonomy, and strong security.

2 Articles to Read: take a break from your mindless scrolling

1 Project to Know: community is everything in web3

Weekly How To: Join a Twitter Space

Twitter Spaces are live, audio conversations usually curated around a specific topic. There are spaces for every interest!

  1. Download the Twitter App

  2. If there is a space you want to join, head over to the profile of any of the accounts participating

  3. If you see this purple glow around their profile pic, that means they are in the space. Tap their profile pic and you will be prompted to join.

You can also join a space when you are on “home.” You’ll see them at the top of your Twitter App.
